The Salmon Saga: From A to Å
The release of my personal newsletter and many stories to come. Time to swim around and introduce myself.
Time to Read: 5 min
Greetings, friend!
And welcome to my newsletter. I am very happy to have you on board and I have been looking forward to write to you so I can give you a proper introduction.
Let’s jump straight into it: you are 1 out of 100 people who have signed up for
the The Salmon Saga, my newsletter. Now that sounds pretty exclusive! In the next months you should expect a healthy amount of fresh salmon/content to arrive in your inbox, so get your fishing rod ready because you are up for a big catch.
I personally know half of you, while I have never met the second half. Anyway, I am looking forward to sharing my stories with all of you and to hear your views.
My name is Marco, not Salmon Shady. I am 25 years old and I am studying innovation and entrepreneurship in Amsterdam. I am half Norwegian and half Italian. I have a strong passion for skiing and outdoor sports, food, marketing, reading and adventure. I played professional football until I was 20, so sports make up an important part of my life. Also, I used to live and study a year in Florida before I moved to Amsterdam. Fun fact about me: the picture at the top was taken right after I captured my first fish with my bare hands. Some people say it was small, but I know that everything is relative.
After this introduction, you might wonder: why did I choose to start a newsletter?
Well, first of all, I think there is a lot to say about me as a person similar to what there is to say about you. That’s right, we all have a story and they are all unique. When I was young, my mum told me that life would be boring if everyone was the same. I guess our uniqueness is after all what makes the world so special.
However, this uniqueness is rarely made valuable unless we show and share. I am a firm believer that our lives can benefit from hearing other people’s experiences, but I discovered myself that I rarely spoke about my past with new people, even though I am proud of where I come from and whom I am surrounded by. That’s why I thought it was about time to share some of the experiences that I have gone through in life.
The current working-from-home situation has given me time to reflect and was indeed the last trigger I needed to make this newsletter finally happen.
Also, I carry a strong passion for writing. I have myself felt the power of words by reading some incredibly well written stuff. Turning thoughts, emotions and memories into words can have a powerful effect on people. Writing things down can help us process the life we are living, while also make us aware of things we did not know existed yet.
Finally, I am entering a stage in life where I can feel that my personality is settling. Meaning, I have developed a view of how the world works and it makes me blind in many ways. While a sense of ownership and control of time and the world around us helps to deal with reality, it also takes away our opportunity to see the world with a new lens, unless we revisit our curiosity and consciously try to stay open-minded.
That is why I created The Salmon Saga with a specific goal in mind: to challenge our current life-perspectives with thought-provoking principles that can help us deal with tomorrow. I am sharing these thoughts to learn more about myself, but more importantly, to open my mind to all the new perspectives out there in the ocean.
I normally like to share thoughts; expanding on ideas about how we can live a good life, and this newsletter gives us an opportunity to learn from each other. I like to be involved in dialogue where no one is supposed to win or lose, but where the purpose is sharing, collaboration and mutual benefit. I aim to create some of that value here. This can be the power of learning from each other.
Hopefully I am able to inspire people through the lens of my personal experiences and it would only be my pleasure if I can somehow assist people on their own journey.
I will be releasing a personal newsletter at the very beginning of every month. These letters will be a bit longer and more in-depth, discussing personal experiences and how they apply today. I like to call these letters “From A to Å”. This is the first version and if you would like to learn how to pronounce the letter Å, click here.
In addition, every Monday you will receive a shorter letter about productivity. These letters require less effort to read and they will include some actionable steps that you can apply right after reading the letter. They are also posted on Mondays so that you can start your week in a productive way. I like to call these letters “Viking Hacks”.
If you have feedback on my content or have ideas on new topics that you want me to tackle, please email me marco.ab.hjorth@gmail.com or send me a message on WhatsApp +47 97624156.
I look forward to sharing ideas and experiences with you and I hope you want to stick around for a while. And please don’t be afraid to reach out!
It was nice to meet you and stay tuned for my first personal experience that will be posted on Sunday, May 10th. A smooth sea never made a skilled salmon.
Yours,
Marco h.
Too bad that it wasn't your youtube channel that show us how to pronounce Å !
